The Cosa Hip Abduction Orthosis line from Ottobock includes the Cosa Junior for children up to children's size 116 and the Cosa Active for children from size 128 and for adults. The orthosis is a so-called hip abduction orthosis. Its functionality is as simple as it is effective: Pads in the pants take over the function of spacers, prevent the knees from crossing, and allow for more stable standing and sitting. As a result, you or your child need to exert less force to cover greater distances. Due to the improved pelvic symmetry and increased knee clearance, the functional orthosis additionally promotes physiological gait and increases mobility. By stabilizing the standing and sitting base, it also creates greater freedom of movement for the hands – whether for eating, playing, writing, or operating electronic devices. Wheelchair users also benefit from the Cosa Active/Junior – it can partially replace separate abduction wedges for the wheelchair. You can use the orthosis from childhood to adulthood. The pants can be worn individually or under longer pants.
