The COSEAT offers a wide range of functionalities best illustrated by an image of a movable plate on a hemisphere. This mobility is made possible by a specially developed mechatronics system with four motors that can move the baseplate of the COSEAT in almost all directions. In addition to the common functions of a power wheelchair, the COSEAT also allows for lateral tilting to facilitate transfers at any height. The lateral tilting can even be programmed to alternate automatically to the left and right to relieve vulnerable pressure points while seated. Gel cushions in the baseplate provide added comfort and can eliminate the need for lying down to prevent pressure sores. The COSEAT can also control all four axes to stimulate the lower body or relieve muscle spasms. A standing function with individually programmable settings allows users with or without residual function to independently transfer themselves. Another highlight is the gyroscope-controlled seat angle compensation, which provides the user with an optimal posture on different surfaces and enhances stability.
