Assistive Devices for Monitoring in the Bedroom
Monitoring devices for children and young adults with disabilities play a crucial role in ensuring safety and well-being. They provide comfort and security for caregivers by allowing effective monitoring. Here are some common devices:
Baby Monitors
Baby monitors, also used for children and young adults with disabilities, allow caregivers to remotely monitor the individual. Some models offer two-way communication to comfort or respond when necessary.Motion Sensors
These devices monitor changes in activity during sleep, such as position changes or sudden movements (e.g., falls or seizures), and immediately alert caregivers. They are especially helpful for individuals with limited mobility or seizure conditions.Seizure Monitoring Devices
Specialized devices for people with epilepsy detect abnormal movements or changes in heart rate and send alerts to caregivers or family members. These are particularly important during sleep to prevent unnoticed seizures.Smart Sensors
These sensors track health data such as heart rate, oxygen levels, and sleep patterns in real-time. They are beneficial for individuals requiring continuous monitoring and often sync with mobile apps for analysis and trend tracking.Ambient Monitoring Systems
These systems use sensors and cameras to monitor the environment, including room temperature, air quality, and noise levels. They can also detect movements and alert if someone leaves the bed or behaves suddenly.

Getemed vG 310
We sleep much more peacefully knowing that we have everything under control in case of an emergency.
Rad-8® and Babyphone
One of our children is monitored during sleep with a pulse oximeter. Since we need to keep an eye on both him and his readings, we use a Blemil baby monitor that allows us to connect two cameras. One is focused on the bed, and the other on the pulse oximeter. The monitor of the baby phone enables both cameras to be displayed simultaneously on the screen, so we can always keep an eye on both the child and the readings.
Philips Avent Connected Babyphone
For children with epilepsy, this baby monitor is the best for us – we've tested over 10 different models. Thanks to its high volume, we can hear nighttime seizures, which is very reassuring. It has a great camera for both day and night, is app-compatible, and offers long battery life.
