Specialized Orthotic Services was the first company in the UK to focus exclusively on special seating and was founded by Gordon McQuilton MBE in 1980.

This followed his work on the development of the Derby Moulded Seat at the Orthotic and Disability Research Center at Derby Royal Infirmary Hospital.

His wealth of experience and expertise working with the National Health Service enabled SOS to better understand the day to day issues faced by healthcare professionals and their clients.
