Wombly adaptive kidswear -
Surprisingly practical and as beautiful as your child
Inclusive
We have a vision: we want to finally make adaptive clothing beautiful, practical and socially acceptable. Wombly adaptive kidswear therefore develops, produces and sells adaptive fashion that is both functional and beautiful. The aim is to make everyday life with medical needs easier for parents and carers and to boost children's self-esteem and self-determination.
Beautiful
We were made aware of the fact that adaptive children's clothing is in absolutely short supply by those affected in our personal environment. When Lena's niece was born prematurely, her family asked themselves "Where can we find suitable clothes for her? How can such a tiny little thing with all its tubes and wires be dressed practically and beautifully?" The family couldn't find a supplier who could help Lena's sister quickly, so they cut holes in bodysuits so that the little one wouldn't have to be disturbed unnecessarily. Lena's sister-in-law works in mobile aftercare for children with chronic illnesses and is confronted with situations where adaptive clothing is needed on a daily basis. Together, the first ideas developed from this experience and one day they had the same idea: Lina as designer, Lena as production manager and Jana, also a former colleague, who does the editing - we are a well-rehearsed team. The birth of Wombly.
Functional
Our first collection is for babies and children who need medical care and for premature babies. Our clothing has special openings and devices for children with disabilities and chronic illnesses. It facilitates the daily handling of stomas and feeding tubes, prostheses and orthoses, catheters and infusions as well as fractures and plaster casts. Many of our garments are available from size 32/38 for the very youngest.
Eco & fair
Our garments are developed in the Wombly product forge in Berlin. We know our supply chain from start to finish: from the field where the cotton grows to the last seam. All fabrics are eco-certified. Production takes place exclusively in the EU, with fair wages and working conditions.
Sustainable & charitable
Because we don't want our products to be a fad, but to be in circulation and used for as long as possible, we are working on a second-hand/exchange platform and a rental/subscription model to support socially disadvantaged customers. We are also integrating a system to support charitable organizations with clothing donations. For every order placed, one euro is converted into clothing and donated.
