Vehicles & vehicle adaptations

Wheelchair loading systems and lifts make it easier for people with mobility impairments to access vehicles without leaving their wheelchair. There are various systems:
Ramp: A cost-effective solution that is attached to the side or rear of the vehicle. The wheelchair is driven onto the ramp either manually or electrically.
Rear lift: A lift that raises the wheelchair into the vehicle using a platform. It is more expensive than a ramp and can be operated manually or electrically.
Cassette lift: This lift is mounted on the side of the vehicle and lifts the wheelchair onto a platform. It is easier to operate than the rear lift, but also more expensive.
The choice of system depends on the type of wheelchair, vehicle and user needs and should comply with safety regulations.
